You were in a car accident.
It’s not unusual. Our chiropractors see auto injury patients every day. It happens to hundreds of people for millions of reasons. Here we will discuss what you can expect from your chiropractor and a few things you might want to watch out for.
Our Auto Injury Treatment
We specialize in auto accident injury recovery. Our experienced chiropractors and licensed massage therapists work hard to accomplish our primary goal of eliminating all pain and helping you return to pre-accident condition. We strive to keep great notes and good communication with all involved parties to your claim, including insurance companies and lawyers, and to inform them of your treatment status.
Depending on your level of injuries we may obtain an X-ray, CT or MRI of the affected areas. All of our technology is available on site, it’s safe, calibrated, and ready to use. In moments notice and with pinpoint accuracy we can inform you of any injuries to your bones.
After all necessary tests are completed and diagnoses have been determined, our chiropractors create a unique treatment plan that best fits your condition.

First Couple of Days – Developing Symptoms
Above any visible injury, car accidents cause headaches, soreness, neck pain, discomfort in your joints, and so and so forth. These symptoms of injury may take up to a week to fully reveal themselves, but you will want to schedule an appointment with a medical professional as early as possible. Our schedule gets filled up quickly, so it’s important to call in.
Furthermore, make sure you don’t do any extensive physical activities. If done improperly or on a torn muscle, you can cause more damage than good. Similarly, avoid any heat. Heat does indeed relax your muscles and make you feel better, but it also causes inflammation, and in about 30 minutes the muscles will tense up again plus the inflammation will stay, effectively causing you additional pain.
Worst of all, if left untreated, many of these symptoms can transform into chronic pain. This occurs when muscles build up scar tissue, ultimately limiting to what degree you can recover. Chiropractic treatment, soft tissue massage, and therapeutic exercise are the most effective and safe ways to treat these injuries. That said, do not overlook the benefits of medical doctors for more serious injuries that require immediate attention.
To make sure that you don’t have to pay out of pocket, make sure you file a claim with your insurance company. Find out if you have personal injury protection (PIP), an amount of health coverage regardless of who is at fault. If you don’t, then there are still ways to get reimbursed for your treatment.
Next Several Months
While receiving chiropractic treatment, you will notice that you feel great after a given visit, but the pain and discomfort come back soon after. As you continue your treatment you will notice how the good feeling effect after a visit becomes longer and longer, as you eventually do not need any more of our help. This is due to the muscular tensions that are built up after an accident. Massage therapy helps relax these muscles, and therapeutic exercise helps keep your muscles in a healthy condition. The end goal here is not to keep treating you. Our goal is to get you back to your healthy self so that you can return to your normal life!
There are also other aspects of an accident you should be aware of. As time passes, it is likely that your insurance company will become less and less patient with your treatment. To save yourself a headache, it’s a good idea to hire an attorney. If the accident was someone else’s fault, it is even more important to hire an attorney, since that often determines the outcome of your claim.
