Types of Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek out treatment at clinics like Dr. Ibolit. Pain in the spine and all over the body can be classified as the following:
- Acute, or short-term back pain continues from a few days to several weeks. Most low back pain is acute and tends to resolve on its own within a few days with treatment and there is no lingering loss of function.
- Chronic back pain is defined as pain that lasts for 3 months or longer, even after an initial injury or underlying cause of acute low back pain has been treated.
Causes of Back Pain
- Traumatic injury to the muscle from sports, car accident, or a fall
- Disk issues including degeneration, herniation, arthritis
- Sprain, strain, or spasm
- Weak abdominal muscles
- Structural irregularities like scoliosis
- Poor posture
- Nerve or spinal cord issues
How we Treat
Chiropractic is a health care practice that focuses on the relationship between the spine and the body’s overall function. Chiropractors employ hands-on therapy called manipulation (or adjustment) as their primary means of treatment. Chiropractic is a holistic approach to treating and maintaining whole body wellness. It is believed that the body has the inherent ability to heal itself when the spine is properly maintained.
Our physical therapist will educate you on the underlying cause of your pain. Therapeutic exercises and stretches specific to your individual symptoms will help create long-lasting results. You will likely be given Home Exercise Program (HEP) to perform regularly on your own to support the work done at the clinic. Re-evaluations will be done regularly to assess your progress and adjust treatment as needed.
Therapeutic massage offers a way to decrease muscular tension, improve range of motion, reduce discomfort, and increase circulation as well as soothe and relax you. Our licensed therapists are here to support your healing journey. Several different massage modalities are offered at our clinic including deep tissue, Swedish, cupping, trigger point, and myofascial release. Hot or cold pack may also be used to enhance your session.
At Dr. Ibolit, we regularly collaborate and communicate with each other on how best to treat each case to provide excellent patient care. Back pain can have many different causes and our staff will use technical skill, evidence-based treatments, and compassion to assess your condition and treat you as a whole person.
The Importance of Seeking Treatment
Over time, our bodies can become accustomed to being in a state of pain. Posture may be adjusted to find a position of comfort during a long, painful day. This accommodation may lead to other dysfunction including decreased mobility, poor posture, and further injury to muscle tissue and joints. Seeking care when your condition is newer will provide you with more opportunity to decrease the likelihood of your symptoms worsening. Non-invasive treatments such as the ones we offer can reduce pain, prevent further dysfunction, and may decrease the need of prescription pain medication. However new or long-standing your pain may be, Dr. Ibolit offers many qualified clinicians to help you wherever you are at in your healing process.

Our clinic offers free chiropractic and physical therapy consults. From there, a full evaluation will be scheduled. We have staff who speak Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian to help you openly and effectively communicate to our clinicians. Accurately describing your pain sensations (burning, achy, tight) and communicating how each session is feeling will allow our staff to make any adjustments necessary to best address your back pain.
